Before finishing the book I decided to watch the movie in order to understand the story better. As I watched the movie for a second time  after finishing the book I noticed many things which have helped me understand more the message and symbols of the book. I can now say that F. Scott Fitzgerald is a GENIUS.

Once again the ending tore me apart and has almost brought me to tears. It is amazing how people with so much money, like Daisy and Tom, can just use some of their money to run away from their problems. Gatsby was innocent and he had to suffer the consequences.

While I watch the movie I annotated on the costumes used in The Great Gastby, I focused on the main characters mostly. The high and wealthy class lived on West and East Egg. Men wore suits, bows (sometimes ties), and hats. Women on the other hand, wore long dresses and excessive jewelry. If we compare the way Tom and Gatsby dressed (clean, suits, ties or bows and hats) vs. what Mr. Wilson wore, dirty shirts and baggy pants, we can clearly see who belongs to the high class. The cloths each character wore represented their social class. The more fancy your cloths the more money you had.

While Myrtle dressed with simple and cheap dresses, Daisy and Jordan wore expensive fancy dresses with tons of jewelry to make them stand out. This is why Mr. Wilson freak out when Myrtle had the pearls because only high people could afford them so it meant someone from the high class was giving them to her. During a casual day at her house Daisy used long and beautiful dresses which today people will only wear to elegant parties. She always had some type of jewelry, the amount depended where she went.

Additionally the clothing also gives, us the viewers, an idea in which time period the story takes place. In the 1920's people used to dress very elegantly. Women wore the flappy dresses and men suits. Also the bathing suits that Gatsby and different people wore at the parties certainly tells us that this movie doesn't take place in a current time frame.
