Just got published!

Today was my first publication on an actual online magazine hosted by Peru this Week, "The Break". The articles were just published today at 3:00 pm but we've been working on them for a week. I write for the 'Life' section which includes, tips, health & beauty, events and people. I really enjoyed writing my article; I was able to write about something that interested me and therefore I had fun researching and writing about it. I  was able to learn so much this week, ever since I started writing the article on Friday, last week, until today when we finally published. It is very important that my  peers edit my work before I can get published because sometimes other people can find errors that I don't see and they can help me improve my work, the more feedback the better. Also I learned that getting and article published is not easy, it's a long process. Furthermore if the article isn't organized and all the writers haven't turn in their article on time the magazine can't be successful. Turning in the article is not as simple, the author must follow the required format so that they organize the article better and make it easier for the editor who has to get them published. Additionally by following the format the author is remained of all the things he/she has to include therefore he/she can have a successful publication with all requirements completed. Finally all writers must turn in their work on time so that the editors can get the feedback back before publishing and they can revise it again and then publication can happen on time on Thursday.

I never thought about writing and article before and I certainly never thought it was this cool. I am excited for next's week's publication.

Today, as a class, we were all very excited to get published so we got carried away and got distracted easily. I feel that this positive emotion is good, however, we have to stay on task and work independently when we have finished our work because by distributing others we are also disturbing their learning. We have to take more initiative not only to decide when to talk to your friends and when to work but also in the class, we have to lead and empower. It is important that we learn to be more autonomous and not depend as much as we do now on Mr. Topf. We all know what we are supposed to do so we should take lead and start dissuasion or organize the class. My personal goal for next week is to take more leadership, independently by getting to work, and don't waste time,a take responsibility of my learning and lead others by setting example and speaking up more.
