"The only way to learn is by making the mistakes"
As we started the class Ike, my teacher, told us to show him the pictures we had taken for homework. Many of the people in my class begun to complain saying that it was very hard and that the pictures they had takes had come out white, black or out of focused. The only thing Ike answered was good, try again. In the beginning I was very confused I would of thought he would have taught each one what they did wrong. Instead he gave us 10 minutes to go outside and take more pictures applying the little things we had learned last class.
When I came back I was a little frustrated because I still didn't understand how the aperture worked or how to combine it with the shutter speed to create the best exposure. Happily, I was not the only one having problems, everyone was stressed.
Ike told us that the only way we were going to learn ow to combine the ISO, APERTURE and SHUTTER SPEED. As we make the mistakes and understand the errors little by little we will learn how to combine them and then it will come automatically.
Many people are scared to fail and make mistakes but really this is the only way of learning. I will admit I was frustrated and stressed at the beginning because I didn't get the shots I wanted. I did get very bad pictures but like this I was able to learn better how to manage my camera and the lights.
The task was to take 3 pictures of a pencil in a white paper applying everything we learned from ISO, APERTURE, SHUTTER SPEED, white lights, shadows and focus. I didn't like the pictures I took of the pencil so I am planning to repeat this homework, now that I understand more the tools in my caera I can play more with the pencil and worry less about the light.
