People have different needs and as such they require need solutions or means to satisfy them. The challenge then, is how do we create something that satisfies everyone? in our class today we had Randy Scherer, teacher from High Tech High, who taught us about design thinking. He guided us through the process of design buy helping us create newscast for our school. We were all involved and we're active most of the, we did research, looked for solutions, brainstormed, we were always moving. There are many things I learned today, however the most valuable lesson that I take away from this day is that students, people in general, learn better if hey are active learners, in other words learning by doing. Sitting all day in a classroom is not necessarily the most effective mean to get the best learning experience. When you are active you are more involved, by moving around and your brain works better because you force it to really think critically and problem solve therefore it begins to look for solutions and connect patterns of data found to finally come up with possible solutions. Staying active really made a difference in our classroom today, certainly on me, because when discussing, grouping information and sharing what we found really helped me be active in my learning and therefore find it more interesting and entertaining. Project based learning is certainly effective because after listening to Randy we were able to apply what we learn into real life, the FDR newscast, we were able to learn from experience. |
